MI4 Design & Architecture
Founded in 2008 by Tamas Molnar, MI4 Design & Architecture is a comprehensive design firm based in Budapest/Hungary. Having studied and worked as joiner/carpenter in Austria and later in the construction business for almost 7 years, Tamas Molnar have forged a powerful and singular design philosophy - one based on an understanding and reverence for craft and tradition, combined with a highly personal, contemporary viewpoint. Quality materials, exceptional craftsmanship, rigor and functionality distinguish his work. Unlike so much current architecture and design that is theory-based, MI4 designs are always informed by an approach that prioritizes the total experience of the end user and results in the creation of environments that feel rich, resonant, and real.
Tamas Molnar's design credo was amplified under the years as partner in Biva-Plus(from 2003 to 2008) with designing several Hotels, Wellness, Casino, Office and residental facilyties in Hungary - for clients like Biggeorges-NV, ORCO Hungary, Mellow Mood Group and others.
MI4 Design & Architecture is the new embodiment of an old model for architectural design firms. Volume is not the goal and the process is comprehensive and design-intensive. MI4 Design & Architecture is selective about the projects it accepts and the firm principals are involved in every design decision for every project. Drawing on this historic model, MI4 scope and capabilities include architecture, interior architecture, interior design and finishes, lighting, color selection, budget control / preliminary budget calculation and more. The creation of a MI4-environment is an inclusive and fully considered process that embraces all aspects and phases of design.
MI4 Design & Architecture is currently working on a wide range of projects, including high-end residential projects, several commercial spaces, hotels, nightclubs and a new furniture product line too.
Our Philosophy
MI4 Design & Architecture believes that every successful job - whether restaurant, hotel or residential space - begins with the designers imagining how the end users will interact with and react to their environments. This ability to envision people living in and enjoying their spaces enables MI4 to design spaces that are eminently responsive to the people in them.
This process involves creating renderings of its projects. The firm renders all presentation drawings by hand, creating evocative images to help their clients understand their vision. At the same time, the studio is also fully technologically proficient. Our designers are CAD proficient with expertise in other software programs, such as 3D Studio, Premiere and Photoshop. MI4 Design & Architecture does the construction documents for most of its projects in-house, using CAD software.
Project leadership is one of the hallmarks of MI4 Design & Architecture. We run the design jobs with extraordinary efficiency and have extensive experience managing and directing designers, engineers, craftspeople, and construction workers and have been responsible for running jobs with construction budgets in the hundreds of millions.
Sourcing is another of the firm's specialities. After nearly 15 years in the design business, Tamas Molnar have amassed an enormous rolodex of artisans, suppliers, and craftsmen. Among his unique areas of expertise is the ability to find anyone, anywhere, to create the perfect object, finish or furnishing on any budget for any job. He also become expert at locating, rescuing and reclaiming objects and building materials from around the world, which makes their designs both.
